Persimmons

 I never see this type of persimmon in the grocery store (I believe these are Asian persimmons). They have a botanical name which means "food of the gods." I had so much fun painting these, although I admit I've never tasted a persimmon. I felt they lent themselves to a dark, rich background.

Another two and a half hour study...I did this before I painted the more finished piece I put up not long ago. I used a gold glazing medium to punch up the shades of orange.

Just finished this painting of two persimmons...I think they pulled off the leaves, which accounts for the black markings...did a quick study of persimmons a few months ago, which inspired me to make this piece....I like the purplish background against the orange...
