New Pear study...Found this pear in the market and knew I had to paint it! Cherries are also one of my favorite things to paint! The composition lent itself perfectly to this 5x7 panel.
I decided to take a painting I did, make a nice copy of it and attach it to a panel..This one was fun to make..I was able to let go and create something that expressed my emotions.
Here is my next quick study! These are challenging, not only because of the time frame I've set, but I've gotten used to painting a certain way, so loosening up is something I'm working on. It takes a lot of practice.
New apple and cherries painting! I love the squat striped apple next to these bright rainier cherries! Also, black and red look great together...I've never tried a rainier cherry...it's silly, but I guess I drank too many shirley temples as a kid..the only cherries I like to eat are maraschino!
I just finished this piece, which is part of a series I started years ago...The subject matter of the series is very personal, but this is a cathartic experience for me..I'm feeling motivated right now to work on these paintings again...I'm looking forward to everything coming together. A couple of years ago I was at a crossroads in my life...I was visiting my mother and I remember her bringing home this naked baby doll that had been run over and left in the middle of the road in downtown Jacksonville.
I'm finding a lot of great new produce recently! I brought these tomatillos home and googled them after I finished this piece. Apparently, they're a fruit used in mexican cooking that can turn yellow, red, and purple. I love the paper husk that surrounds them.
