Apple Banana Commission

Apple Banana Commission
6"x6"
Acrylic on panel

This is another still life commission! The client wanted a small bunch of bananas that would fit on a 6"x6" panel. My first thought was apple bananas. I love the way they taste! I was in Jacksonville and had some trouble finding them, but whole foods got a shipment in. It was tricky making something yellow turn. I had fun with the spots and markings. It's the first time I've ever painted apple bananas, but will definitely try it again in the future.

Recent Commissions

Three Red Plums
6"x6"
Acrylic on panel

Two Peaches
6"x6"
Acrylic on panel

Lemon and Lime
6"x6"
Acrylic on panel

A client purchased Apple and Orange Cherries and then commissioned me to make three more paintings! The plum painting was based on another I had sold. I always have fun with the deep purples, reds, and reflective light. Two Peaches was a challenge because I had never painted them before, so I decided to paint donut peaches and regular peaches to give him a choice. I had never painted a whole lemon either. It's very difficult to make something yellow round, but I'm happy with the way it turned out!

Sake House

Sake House
5"x8"
Acrylic on panel

Just finished a painting of The Sake House, which is a sushi restaurant in Riverside in Jacksonville, Florida... I had a lot of fun experimenting with the composition and bold colors. The original idea was to do a quick study but wound up spending a bit more time on it then I had planned.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes

New tomato painting....I love the shapes of the stems....This was good practice for me...I struggled with some aspects of the piece, like the cast shadows behind the stems, but I'm pretty happy with the way it came out...

Lake George Sunset

Lake George Landscape
10"x24"
Acrylic on canvas

When I lived in upstate NY we would often go to the Algonquin restaurant down the street. I remember this sunset..we got to the restaurant early to see the colors in the lake and sky change..after grabbing a drink we headed to Lake George Village to walk around.  I thought the pinks, purples, and blues were really beautiful on this evening in particular.

Companion piece to the apple painting I posted recently. Each apple has a different shape and color which gives it its own unique personality. I like the green in the background...don't know why, but makes me think of The Wizard of Oz...scene with the flying monkeys...all of those beautiful colors...

Lake George Mirror Article

This is an article that was recently published in the Lake George Mirror about an artist's residency I'm doing in upstate NY at Shelley's International. The article was written by Tony Hall who came into the gallery, along with his wife, and sat down with me, Clint, and Jeff, the owner. The paintings in the photo are of the "Boathouse Bed and Breakfast", which I had just finished and a painting titled "Apple and Arsenic".
I am currently working on a piece of the Carousel in Lake George Village. I should have an image of it up by next week!
