Burn

Burn
6"x6"
Acrylic on panel

When I started this still life I knew I wanted to get back to experimenting with patterns in my backgrounds. I started with the background and built the rest of the still life around it. It's very loud and bold, which I like. Plums have quickly become one of my favorite still life subjects.  I'm happy with the strong contrast of the plums against the background. It's always fun to try something new!

Plums

Plums
6"x6"
Acrylic on panel

Just finished this painting...I've been concentrating a lot on still lifes lately...mostly for practice in making things look round, but also to put up for auction....my boyfriend Clinton Hobart who has been painting still lifes for years,  has been a huge influence in this respect...This is the first painting I've played with reflective light and really enjoyed it...had never painted plums before...the lemon plum(on the left) was tricky but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out...
